Founded in 2013, Magellan Life Sciences Ltd. is a UK based synthetic bio-engineering company that specializes in research on novel, plant protein molecules. Using its proprietary scientific technology X-Seed®, Magellan uses “Precision Respiration” to bridge the gap between RnD and the commercial industry needs.

At Magellan Life Sciences we believe that future of food security is going to rely heavily on unique synthetic biological solutions. With the rampant, unpredictable changes in the weather patterns due to global warming, dependability on traditional farming will prove costly for corporations across the F&B sector.

That is where synthetic biology can be really leveraged to create/discover smart solutions that will not only reduce the carbon footprint but provide the consumer with healthier options to choose from, especially where daily food and nutrition choices are concerned.

Lab To Pilot

An IP driven company, Magellan’s business model is best described as “LAB TO PILOT.” As a technology driven company, our end goal is to take a molecule from the bench scale to a pilot facility.

In doing so, Magellan’s clear role is that of a technology provider that establishes a stable, cost effective upstream and downstream process for industrialization of complicated protein molecules stuck at the R&D stage.
